"So when did I stop dreaming?"
The mermaid looked at the iridescent strings of algae that were connected to the rocks at the bottom of this vast and replenishing ocean. They reached upward towards the surface.
The strings served as a beacon for the underwater world. Here the passage between the world of men and the sea world was strongest felt. That's why she was here.
From this moment on she had to choose where she belonged. Here in the flow of the water or up there where her passion could instantly be refilled, but her heart could also be broken continuously, in the rhythm of the waves, on... and on.

Before this awakening happened she could swim from shore to shore, and every scratch she would get from pain or sorrow in the human world would be healed immediately as new opportunities to live and love arose. Nothing ever touched her completely because of this. She could replenish herself because she was connected with the ocean.

But now... It seemed she had reached the shore where she had to stay. Because there was no replenishment possible anymore. Her heart had been severely bruised due to failed love encounters in which even divine forces had intervened making it impossible to continue this way and so she had decided that this road was not the road that she was meant to travel.

She had to learn to live alone.

And then her consciousness kicked in.
The choices she had to make were easy as long as she wouldn't let passion get in the way.

We do crazy things for passion. We display all our good features, we revel in delight and excitement for future moments that will ultimately reach a climax of pure sensation. And then... We are the moment, and time stops. It is that moment that we would die for to experience... Time after time...wave after wave.

Now these moments needed to cease to exist. She needed to exchange her tail for legs permanently and she needed to learn to walk alone. Only then would she be able to live in the moment, and be surprised by it's contents. No wishes, no needs, just the need to feel and love each moment of every day and every night.

To be in time is actually to learn how to live without it's presence. And even if desires would pop up, perhaps in the form of a cry of a distant soul trying to contact her through the ether, she would know how to deal with it. She would love this astral touch, she would cherish it, and then she would move on.
From now onwards she would enjoy every single time the magic of life would enter her life, no matter how it would come to her. She just would not push it anymore.

Take for example the little bird she had met on one of her travels. How he flew from branch to branch to be as close to her as possible. She didn't wish it to be, it just happened. How he looked at her and started to sing for her. No reason for this to happen, just the delight of the moment itself. Time stopped...

Every being in this universe needs love and light. They are drawn to it as moths to a flame.
Because she had always been one with her light in a natural pure sense, she also attracted everyone who needed replenishment by it. But she could not be consumed by their needs to escape their own darkness anymore. She was now able to enjoy these feelings of connection and then let go.

And this was the moment she had stopped dreaming.

There was no scenario planned for her. She wasn't destined to become, she was already how she was supposed to be and where she should be. And she saw how all life was captured in strings of moments. Moments she could choose to direct or observe.
Innocence had transformed into knowledge and had turned into innocence again. The innocence and purity of life. And how to master each and every second by letting go of it.

The ground felt hard on her feet, and she hesitated a moment looking back at the illuminated sea. She missed her tail already and longed to be one with the water, her natural state of being. But she knew this was the right choice. Only by experiencing a conscious human life once again was she able to resolve the many riddles of it. This was the only way her soul could learn, evolve.
She strolled over the beach trying to find her balance with every step. From time to time she gazed back at the sea, becoming smaller and smaller as the distance became greater. The sun rose from above the dunes and it's warmth energized her, as the water did before on so many occasions. She realized then she had to learn to find new ways to feel good, and that her journey had only just begun...

With love
